Photos from pool!
June 8th, 2008
After months of restoration for the gites and creation for the pool, we need to show you now any photos of the gites and the pool, letting you come and have some holidays in a quiet space in the gites in the “Horizons vendéens”. Even if the website has not been available yet, phone calls or mails have already confirmed us confirmation of tourists for this summer, and why not thinking of your visit in Pouzauges???

Tiles in the 2nd gite, “la gentilhommière”
June 5th, 2008
After having shown photos in the pool with the strengthened covering and the beginning of water filling, I have promised to speak about tiles in the gite 2, “la gentilhommière”.
Our choice for tiles in the gite: to keep the old style. The first idea was to have terracotta, because of the colour, red graduation which blends well with the stone walls and more particularly better than a white or beige tile. But for a pratical matter, as well as for me -owner of the gites- as for you -tourists on holiday-, a tile should be easy to clean and should not be a constraint. So, the chosen tile looks like terracota for its warm colour but a tile for its easy cleaning.
Moreover, the choice of this tile was above all for the living room -which takes up more than the half of the gite- but in order to avoid to have several tiles -materials and colour- in the other rooms, we have prefered to get the same quality in all rooms of the gite. In your next visits in les Horizons vendéens, let us kow your comments and if our choice was judicious.

The pool, nearly at your complete disposal
June 2nd, 2008
This week, how can we see that works have been going on in the “Horizons vendéens” for the gites and the interior pool? The answer cannot be categorical because craftspeople work hard on both sides:
-
tiles on the floor are almost finished in the gite 2 “la gentilhommière”, where only remain any seals to do.
-
works in the pool, with the white strengthened covering and the beginning of the water filling.
Today, I prefer showing you the pool… the next post will relate you the tiles of the gite.
So if you come into the pool space by the door -oly reserved for the gite 1 “l’hosterie”- you can see hereafter this:

Please wait once week more before diving in the pool, just on one hand, to have the pool entirely filled with water and on the other hand, to warm water.

Another craftsman in the gite 1 “l’hosterie”
May 30th, 2008
I have forgotten to mention you a craftsman -who will work for us in the next few weeks- in our partners’ details for the restoration of the gites and the pool.
In order to secure the mezzanine, we needed getting a banister, and to keep the character of this gite, we should appeal a craftsman working with the wrought iron. Indeed, a banister made of another material could alter the character of the house. Moreover, the wrought iron has the advantage of not warping in time and of being thougher, compared with wood for example.
The chosen company is l’ACMIF; with this following link (http://acmif.com/), you can see its abilities, skills and works.
Before the banister will be in the gite, you can find below a sketch:

Outside walls of the gite 2 “la gentilhommière”
May 27th, 2008
For the gite 2, “la gentilhommière”, we have been waiting impatiently for the works of cleaning out the walls so that we have been able to get a more precise idea of this gite. Indeed, it has been hard since almost 1 year to imagine this stone building, from ruin to a residential “use”. Unfortunately, weather did not help us today for the photos…

Stone walls in the gite 2
May 21st, 2008
As explained in the previous posts, the wall built in breeze blocks in the front façade of the 2nd gite had to be covered with stones in order to have the original look of these old stone buildings. This work has required patience for everyone: for the stoneworkers, for the craftspeople working after the stoneworkers, and also to us;
Indeed, we was eager to see this wall finished; finished in order to clean out the stones and most of all, to take photos for the website.
If all goes well, the coating and the cleaning out the stones of this gite should be done before the end of this week… in the meanwhile, let’s see the development of this wall with photos:

2 or 3 bedrooms in the 1st gite?
May 18th, 2008
Just few words to confirm you that the gite 1 has really 3 bedrooms, so can sleep 6 persons. But with my previous post “what about bedrooms in the 1st gite“, photos have shown you only 2 bedrooms for this gite. An explanation shoul be required…
As works go on in the both gites, we need space to stock plants and also furniture -beds, wardrobes, sofas, households appliances…- for both gites, and the mere room, which was available and spacious enough -19m²- and also was able to be closed to avoid dust and any risk to damage furniture, was the 1st bedroom.
What about bedrooms in the 1st gite?
May 16th, 2008
After having shown photos in the mezzanine, we can follow our visit towards bedrooms -upstairs- in this gite 1. Furniture and wrought iron beds are now available, just wait and see the decorating and to make beds in order to welcome tourists…
